Home Our Reports R7 — Market Expansion Strategy

You are trading. Now how do you grow from here?

The strategic framework for deepening market share, broadening channels, and building your position — from foothold to meaningful market presence.

You are already trading and generating revenue. The question is no longer how to enter — it is how to grow without weakening your position. R7 provides a strategic framework for deepening market share, broadening channel presence, and protecting the commercial position you have already built.

This is the only report in the TradeMatch Pro suite that assumes active trading is underway. It does not re-examine entry conditions or risk factors covered in earlier reports. It accepts where you are and asks one question: how do we grow from here?

WHAT'S INCLUDED

A strategic growth framework built around
where you are now — not where you started

R7 draws on your current trading position, prior intelligence, and the specific growth constraints and opportunities in your market. The more context you provide in your brief, the more precisely the report is calibrated to your situation.

Six dimensions of market expansion strategy.

Dimension 1

Channel Development & Diversification

The channel expansion options available in this market — new distributor tiers, direct relationships, e-commerce channels — and the commercial and relationship risks of pursuing them alongside your existing distribution structure.

Dimension 2

Product & Pricing Adaptation

Whether product or pricing adaptations would unlock materially better market penetration — including which adaptations are commercially viable at your current scale and which create margin risk that undermines the growth they enable.

Dimension 3

Relationship Deepening & Buyer Development

How to deepen commercial relationships with your existing buyers — increasing order frequency, volume, and strategic importance — before adding the complexity of new buyer acquisition or new channel development.

Dimension 4

Competitive Position Protection

The competitive threats most likely to emerge as your market presence grows — incumbent supplier response, new entrant risk, and the specific actions needed to protect your position before those threats materialise at scale.

Dimension 5

Operational Scaling & Infrastructure

Whether your current operational infrastructure — logistics, working capital, compliance, and supplier capacity — can support the growth rate you are targeting, and what needs to be in place before scaling creates operational risk.

Dimension 6

Multi-Market Prioritisation & Sequencing

The decision framework for whether to deepen investment in this market or begin building a second — with prioritisation of adjacent market candidates based on your existing product capabilities, export infrastructure, and risk appetite.

Built for exporters who have established a foothold
and are ready to build a meaningful market position.

Exporters with their first sales confirmed and a relationship established

You have made your first sales, your buyer relationship is working, and you want a structured framework for turning that initial foothold into a growing, defensible market position. R7 gives you the strategic roadmap.

Exporters who have plateaued and want to break through

You have been trading for some time but growth has stalled — the same buyers, the same volumes, no momentum. R7 identifies the specific levers available to you and the sequencing that will produce the most impact with your current resources.

Exporters deciding whether to deepen or expand to a second market

You are at the pivotal decision point — invest more in this market or begin building a second. R7 provides the analytical framework to make that decision with evidence rather than instinct, and the prioritisation tool for identifying your next market if the decision is to expand.

Export consultants building a growth strategy for a client

Commissioning a structured growth strategy report on behalf of an exporter who has established initial trading. R7 provides the evidenced strategic framework your client needs to move from reactive trading to planned market development.

From brief to growth strategy in three working days.

1

You provide your brief

Your product, current trading position, existing channels and buyers, growth objectives, and specific constraints you are facing. The more context you provide, the more precisely calibrated the strategy. The briefing form takes under five minutes.

2

We build your growth strategy

Anthony Wolff assesses your current position across all six dimensions — drawing on your trading context, market intelligence, and more than four decades of experience in export growth — and builds a strategy calibrated to where you actually are.

3

You receive your expansion strategy

A structured PDF covering all six dimensions with specific growth recommendations, milestones, decision triggers, and a strategic verdict — delivered within three working days of your briefing form completion.

Everything you need to know about R7.

Do I need to have completed the other reports first?

No — but the more prior intelligence you have, the more precisely R7 can be calibrated. If you have completed R2 through R6, your prior reports inform the growth strategy directly. If you are coming to R7 without prior reports, R7 is built from your brief and current trading position alone — it still works, but is less precisely targeted.

What counts as "active trading" for R7?

Active trading means at least one order has been completed and at least one buyer relationship is established. You do not need to have been trading for years — even a first completed order qualifies. What R7 requires is a real commercial starting point, not a theoretical one.

What is the Bottleneck Rule?

If any single dimension scores 4/10 or below, the R7 growth verdict is capped at DEVELOP — regardless of the composite score. A business cannot accelerate growth when a fundamental constraint is unresolved. The Bottleneck Rule ensures R7 never recommends aggressive expansion over a significant structural weakness.

What are the four R7 verdict bands?

ACCELERATE — strong position across all dimensions, clear growth path available. DEVELOP — solid foundation with identifiable constraints to address before scaling. CONSOLIDATE — trading successfully but growth should be deferred until position is more secure. REASSESS — fundamental issues identified that must be resolved before growth investment is appropriate.

Does R7 tell me which second market to enter?

R7 provides a prioritisation framework for adjacent market candidates — identifying which markets are most compatible with your existing product, export infrastructure, and risk profile. It does not replace R1 for the second market — it identifies the candidates and the sequencing logic. R1 then assesses the specific shortlisted markets in depth.

What if R7 recommends I consolidate rather than grow?

That is a genuinely valuable outcome. A recommendation to consolidate rather than scale means R7 has identified structural issues that would undermine growth if unaddressed. Knowing that before you invest in growth saves you from the expensive mistake of scaling a position that is not yet strong enough to bear it.

How long does the briefing form take to complete?

When you place your order, we send you a short briefing form by email covering your product, current trading position, existing channels and buyers, growth objectives, and constraints. Most clients complete it in under five minutes — though more detailed briefs produce more precisely calibrated strategies.

What if I am not satisfied with the report?

If the report materially fails to address the scope set out in your brief, we will revise it once at no additional cost. See our Refund and Revision Policy for full details.

Is my brief kept confidential?

Yes. Your brief, trading position, product details, and market information are held in strict confidence. They are never shared with third parties, disclosed to other clients, or reused for any other purpose.

What happens after R7 — is that the end of the roadmap?

R7 completes the TradeMatch Pro export roadmap for one market. If you are ready to apply the same intelligence framework to a second market, the journey begins again with R1. Many clients run the full suite across two or three markets simultaneously as their export programme grows.

A note on contacting buyers directly

Once you have your market expansion strategy, you may be tempted to begin direct email outreach to potential buyers. Before you do, there is one important step that many first-time exporters overlook — and it can make the difference between your email being read and it going straight to spam.

Never use your primary business domain for cold outreach. Sending unsolicited emails from your main domain (the one you use for day-to-day business) puts that domain’s reputation at risk. If recipients mark your emails as spam, your entire business email operation can be affected — including emails to existing clients and partners.

The correct approach is to register a separate domain specifically for outreach (for example, getcompanyname.com alongside companyname.com), warm it up over four to six weeks using a dedicated tool, and only then begin sending. We recommend Instantly.ai for domain warmup, authentication setup (SPF, DKIM, DMARC), and campaign management — it is the tool we use ourselves.

This one step protects your primary domain, improves deliverability, and ensures your outreach actually reaches the buyers you have worked hard to identify.

Reports that work well alongside R7.

R6

Market Risk Assessment

R6 provides the current risk picture for your market — the foundation on which any growth strategy must be built. Commission R6 first if you have not already assessed your risk exposure before scaling.

R4

Buyer Intelligence

If your growth strategy requires new buyer acquisition, R4 gives you 25 verified buyers already importing your product — ranked by First-Win Probability and ready to approach with outreach templates included.

R1

Market Opportunity Assessment

If R7 recommends multi-market expansion, R1 is the natural next step — assessing your shortlisted second markets across six dimensions and delivering a ranked recommendation before you commit.

You have completed the TradeMatch Pro export roadmap.

If you are ready to apply the same intelligence framework to a second market, the journey begins again with R1. Many clients run the full suite across two or three markets simultaneously as their export programme grows. Contact us to discuss a tailored multi-market package →
